A NGK completa, on august 1st, 60 years of operation in Brazil, establishing itself as a reference in ignition system in the automotive sector and in porcelain inserts, products that have been part of its portfolio since the beginning of its activities in the country. A Japanese multinational, which arrived in Brazil in 1959, headquartered in Mogi das Cruzes (SP), the group's first factory outside Japan. the factory unit, installed in the Cocuera neighborhood since 2007, occupies 70 thousand square meters of built area, on a plot of 625 thousand square meters, where today more than 1,300 employees produce porcelain inserts and automotive components, like spark plugs, ignition cables and suppression terminals, that cater to the Brazilian and export market. The Mogian plant also houses one of the company's six Technology Centers worldwide. Furthermore, the company sells ignition coils and NGK glow plugs and, sob a marca NTK, has a complete portfolio of oxygen sensors, Knock Sensors and Cutting Tools. “It is an honor for NGK to celebrate six decades of history in Brazil, where we could accompany and collaborate for the development of the national industry over these years. Reference in the automotive segment In the automotive segment, NGK do Brasil is a specialist in ignition system. Over these 60 years, The company has produced more than 2,3 billion spark plugs and more than 280 million ignition cables. “NGK's history intertwines with that of the automobile industry, which was taking its first steps in 1959. From the first order as an original part for General Motors, the company grew and gained the trust of other automakers", complete Tanabe. A NGK, currently, is a leader in the national replacement market and one of the main suppliers of original components, adding several awards and recognitions for its quality and performance. Always with a spirit of growth, NGK do Brasil has been working on expanding its plant in Mogi das Cruzes. The project is the result of an investment of R$ 210 million, which aims to increase production and generate jobs in the municipality. Completion is expected in 2020. New brand An important milestone in celebration of NGK's 60th anniversary in Brazil is the recent launch of the Belamari brand for porcelain tiles. With the new brand, the objective is to convey the main attributes of the traditional porcelain tiles from NGK do Brasil, recognized for beauty, sophistication and enchantment, with colors and reliefs in line with global design trends, with an emphasis on innovation in the development of exclusive pieces that feature unique reliefs and original colors. With about 200 models in its portfolio, Belamari is among the main brands of porcelain tiles in the country, reference in quality and trends.
