Company highlights environmental regulations as major drivers of engine evolutions
São Paulo, March 2024 - Niterra, Japanese multinational owner of the NGK and NTK brands and specialized in components for ignition systems and automotive sensors, Shares Insights discusses current trends in the development of fuel injection systems and highlights three innovations that are driving energy efficiency and the reduction of pollutant emissions in vehicles.
1- Adoption of direct injection: Direct injection technology is becoming universal in the automotive industry. Previously reserved for high-end vehicles, Direct injection is now being widely adopted in popular vehicles.
2- Increased use of turbocharged engines: Turbo engines are becoming more and more common, with electronic control of the boost pressure being carried out by the injection system. This approach allows for more precise fuel management, resulting in higher efficiency and lower emission of pollutants.
3- Presence of 3-cylinder engines and downsizing: The trend of 3-cylinder engines follows the philosophy of downsizing, aiming to reduce engine displacement to improve energy efficiency. This approach, combined with improved injection technology, promotes a significant reduction in fuel consumption and CO emissions2.
Contribution to environmental sustainability
The aforementioned trends aim to reduce pollutant emissions and seek to increase the energy efficiency of vehicles, being driven by increasingly stringent environmental regulations. In this sense, initiatives such as the Motor Vehicle Air Pollution Control Program (Proconve) in Brazil, it works as an ally in the development of new automotive evolutions. Proconve establishes emission limits and reduction targets, encouraging automakers to invest in cleaner, more efficient technologies.
"In technical terms, to minimise emissions, More sophisticated injection systems and catalytic converters are adopted in the exhaust system. To optimize energy efficiency, Technologies such as spark plugs made of noble materials are applied, improvements in the design of the combustion chambers and reduction of mechanical losses in the engine", afirma Hiromori Mori, Technical Assistance Consultant at Niterra do Brasil.
Committed to providing answers that comply with the highest environmental standards, Niterra provides, through its NGK and NTK brands, A wide range of components, which include candles, Ignition Cables & Coils, Automotive Sensors Heating Candles, among other products.
